Based on successful past projects with Parques Reunidos, TAA was invited to build Europe’s largest Polar Bear Enclosure – a unique facility for the respect and conservation of Polar Bears. Bears Flock and Rasputin, Marineland’s polar bears welcomed and experienced their new natural habitat of 2.200 sqm. Divided in three main areas, the much endangered animals could enjoy their seawater and freshwater lakes, grassland, waterfalls and rock landscapes.
TAA created 3.500 sqm of natural looking rocks of the habitat, in order to provide both a great looking as well as safe enclosure and cement works needed to be extremely strong to support the weight of the Bears which can be over 500kg. High quality and at the same time best value- for-money was delivered right for the opening of the new 2010 attraction at Marineland. Two chilled ice caves were carved by TAA – quite a challenge – to provide a calm and comfortable area for the animals.
All materials used were of highest quality and in accordance with the necessities of biological aspects for animal enclosures. With this project, TAA increased its competence in the zoological area and ensures natural surroundings to help preserve these species and the Marineland breeding program in collaboration with the European Program for Breeding.
