TAA Industries Partner for Legoland Discovery Centre at Duisburg, Germany

TAA Industries worked with Merlin Entertainment on its new Legoland Discovery Centre in Duisburg that opened in May 2008. TAA created the theming and animatronics for the recently opened LEGO Discovery Centre in Duisburg, Germany. Throughout the project TAA worked closely with the project team of Legoland.

It was essential to combine artistic theming of TAA with millions of LEGO bricks to create a unique visitor experience. The historic “Wehrhahnspeicher” was themed on 3.000 square meters with three main highlights:

1. The "Dragon Ride" a dark ride theming with scenes like the torture chamber and the throne room where TAA incorporated the Lego figures.
2. Inside the “Adventure Trail” kids, their friends and families start an adventurous trip and have to answer questions at certain stages. This area extends over two levels and includes cement works, wood works, light effects, water ponds with a waterfall over two floors, murals and artificial plants.
3. In the "LEGO Factory" guests experience the production of Lego bricks. TAA developed a factory line with pneumatic and light effects controlled by push buttons and/or show control. The guests are being introduced in the overall production process. Starting from mixing the granulate, forming the brick, giving it the stamp, quality control until a small LEGO brick is ready and can be taken by the guests for free as memory of the day. Based on the success in Duisburg TAA manufactured this Factory Tour also for the latest LEGO Discovery Centre in Chicago, USA.

Throughout the project TAA worked closely with the project team of Legoland in developing final concept drawings and designs for all theming aspects. The company placed great importance on the design to ensure and create with its sculptures and Lego bricks the unique Legoland concept. TAA has focused its attention on traditional working materials, such as textile fibre, glass, concrete, steel, and wood. All TAA’s decorations are produced with extreme attention and prepared according to the highest European standards, offering authenticity and long lasting products.
